Forgiveness and Alpha Waves
Forgiveness is a major theme of the Biocybernaut Alpha and Theta
Training programs. Here is a little background on Forgiveness and Alpha
Waves.
George Gallup, in one of his Gallup Polls surveyed Americans on the
topic of Forgiveness.
He found that Forgiveness is something virtually all Americans aspire to
--94% surveyed in a nationwide Gallup poll said it was important to
forgive. But it is not something we frequently are able to do. 85% said
they could not do forgiveness on their own and needed some outside
help,- God's help or something outside themselves. Even prayer did not
correlate with Effective Forgiveness, which is astonishing given the
many Christians in the survey. Of all the things Gallup asked about in
the poll, only one thing correlated with effective forgiveness, and that
was "meditative prayer."
Now when I see the word "meditative" I see increased Alpha Brain Waves.
When meditation is done correctly, it produces more Alpha Waves in the
brain. So "meditative prayer" would have more Alpha Waves than any other
kind of prayer. Meditative walking would have more Alpha Waves.
Meditative eating would have more Alpha Waves, and so on. And only
meditative prayer was found, by the Gallup Poll, to be correlated with
Effective Forgiveness.
So in a sense, George Gallup has discovered intriguing evidence that
Alpha Waves are related to effective forgiveness. This helps explain the
lack of effective forgiveness in today’s world, because people are so
lacking in alpha brain waves.
The tests, challenges and travails of daily life diminish your alpha
waves below the natural levels you would enjoy without what Shakespeare
called "The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune."(Hamlet 3/1). Most
people are "alpha wave challenged" in that they have far less alpha
brain wave activity than would be ideal for them. And they have much
less alpha brain wave activity than they are capable of having.
Therefore people would also be "forgiveness challenged" because alpha
waves are needed for effective forgiveness.
When I am teaching people to increase their Alpha brain waves I tell
them they have to open their hearts, and they must learn to forgive. The
lack of enough alpha waves in most people’s brains could explain another
one of the important findings in the Gallup Poll: only 48% of the people
said they usually tried to forgive others. It makes sense that without
enough Alpha waves they would be wasting their time because forgiveness
wouldn’t work anyway. It takes increased Alpha Waves for Effective
Forgiveness and most people are way below their natural potential for
Alpha Waves.
Forgiveness was not always a central theme of the Biocybernaut Alpha
brain wave trainings. The development of this powerful Forgiveness theme
did not come from a Faith Based approach to designing the Alpha
Trainings, although it might well have had its roots in the Christian
background of Biocybernaut's Founder and CEO, Dr. Jim Hardt, who was
raised in the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod [i.e. fundamentalist]. And
Dr. Hardt’s paternal grandfather, Henry Hardt was a Lutheran minister
who married his parents and baptized him.
Nevertheless the extremely powerful Forgiveness theme of the
Biocybernaut trainings came from an empirical and scientific approach to
healing the hearts, minds and spirits of the people who have come for
this advanced form of neurofeedback training at Biocybernaut.
Sandy McGaghe, a retired Presbyterian minister said that he learned more about forgiveness
in the 7 days of his Alpha One training than in all the 35 years of his
ministry.
How is this possible? And how does the Biocybernaut’s Alpha One training
teach people the skill of effective forgiveness?
There are many components of Biocybernaut’s powerful forgiveness
training, and one of the keys to learning effective forgiveness is
Biocybernaut’s computerized Mood Scale Programs. As an Alpha trainee you
fill out these computerized mood scales twice a day while seated in the
Neurofeedback chamber. You are wearing all your electrodes that are
attached to many different regions of your scalp, over important brain
regions and you fill out the computerized Mood Scales both before and
after your Alpha feedback training. Your brain is connected to
amplifiers that boost the tiny microvolt-range brain wave signals and
then these amplified signals are processed by several computers. It
takes three computers to run each one of the Biocybernaut brain wave
training chambers.
When you are taking these Mood Scales the computer presents adjectives
[feeling words] to you one at a time and you rate yourself as to how
Friendly, Sleepy, Unhappy, Anxious, Depressed, Calm, Kindly, Joyful,
etc. you think yourself to be. Meanwhile the computer both records your
answers and calculates your scores on 21 different moods. But the
computer is also making evaluations of how accurate your answers are. Of
course you are trying to be as honest as possible, but your ego will be
trying to keep some things hidden,- things like anger, hostility,
resentment, jealousy, etc. These negative feelings will be linked to
traumatic events in your life and your ego will not want you to be aware
of these, because you might actually forgive these traumatic events and
thus get FREE of the grief they cause in your subconscious.
Ego would rather have a storehouse of unforgiven events in your
unconscious that it can bring up into your awareness, at times of its
choosing, to keep you off balance when you try to be happy, free, clear
and more spiritual and more one with God in your life. So ego uses the 5 Hindrances
(from Zen philosophy) plus Forgetfulness to prevent you from forgiving. Any forgiveness or transcendence that
you achieve will reduce your ego’s control of you. Father Pierre
Tielhard de Chardin, the famous French Jesuit philosopher said,
"The True Self grows in inverse proportion to the growth of egoism."
So the unfortunate fact is that your efforts at forgiveness are
continually undermined by your own ego as part of its program of keeping
you under its control. Your ego does not want you to forgive because
that will diminish ego’s control of you. Ego relishes the control it has
when you are "blind with rage" or "numb with fear". However, if you are
filling yourself with compassion and merging with the Divine Awareness,
ego is being shrunk and it will go ballistic and act out to distract you
from greater awareness of the Source of the universe.
The computerized Mood Scales can reach back all the way to your
childhood and can detect, and then bring back into your awareness, all
those traumas, negative behaviors, negative emotions, withholds,
grudges, etc. that are adversely influencing your behaviors and your
moods, and are undermining your success. One of the roles of the
Biocybernaut Trainers is to review your Mood Scales with you so you can
re-educate yourself about these past events and the negative emotions
attached to these events.
As you take the Mood Scale test, the computer rates the likely accuracy
of each one of your answers. It calculates sigmas (standard deviations)
associated with each one of your responses to the words on the Mood
Scales. If the computer calculates a one sigma for a response you gave,
that suggests there is a 68% chance that answer is wrong. If the
computer calculates a 2 sigma for your response, that suggests there is
a 95% chance your answer to that item is wrong. If the computer
calculates a 3 sigma for your response that suggests there is a 99.7%
chance that answer is wrong. Nothing is absolute here, but these are
some strong suggestions that you have a BIG ISSUE with that word and it
would be in your best interest to think of what it might be. If that
feeling and the incident that caused it continues to hide out in your
subconscious, you will have less alpha and you will be vulnerable to
ego’s use of that incident to undermine your happiness and your success.
The Mood Scale program turns up forgiveness candidates like a plow turns
up rocks in a field. These forgiveness candidates will help focus your
forgiveness efforts during your work in the Alpha feedback chambers. Of
course it takes a daily depth interview with a skilled Biocybernaut
Trainer to help you discover what these forgiveness candidates might be.
